Trip to Mahabalipuram

We (Sejuti, Runai and I) started early morning 5:00 AM on 17-May-2014. Got in the car and headed straight toward Hosur road. At 8:00 AM, we stopped in Kamat (back of Reliance Petrol Bunk) for breakfast. Next we know that we crossed Krishnagiri, Velor and road gave us smooth ride. We stopped before Kanchipuram and took a break with tea and coffee. Next we turned on our navigation because we knew we had to take diversion and go inside the Kanchipuram and take route to Mahabalipuram. While Runai was guiding me, I was following her direction. Once we reached Kanchipuram, we thought to visit temple here. We parked our car and walked in Ekambareswarar Temple.

We visited the place and spent some time there. After freshen up, we started again and this time we didn't stop anywhere and went straight to Mahabalipuram. We searched for Silversands Beach Resort in navigation and found the place. It is 2 km away from Mahabalipuram in Chennai Direction in ECR road.

As we reached there at 2:30 PM, we parked our car and went in. We were greeted well and given our room. It was a very nice well decorated place. After freshen up, we came out and headed toward town. Please remember that once you pay for the town ticket, you can use it for whole day. So we showed the ticket which we paid at the time of entering the town and went in and stopped near Gazebo restaurant wich is just next to the bus stop. We had rice plus chicken, fish and squid curry. It was very nice and tasty. Next we returned back hotel and spent whole evening in the beach of the resort. It was a lovely time and specially when you walk for hours in the sandy untouched beach for hours till sun goes down. Evening we went again inside the city for dinner. We got in a departmental store and got some snacks and lots of water bottle. Evening was usually chatting and enjoying the place and resort.
18-May-2014, we got out of our room at 10:00 AM. We know it was little late for sight seeing and its quite hot outside.
First we stopped at Tiger Headed Rock Cut Temple and Rock Cut Siva Temple.

Next we went to Mukunda Nayanar Temple.

From there we went to Shore Temple.

Next we went to the museum, but it was closed in the afternoon, so we went ahead and stopped near Mahishasura Mardini Cave. Next we climbed the temple. It was the only place where you get a 360 degree view of the entire place. Beside it was the light house.

Next we went ahead and parked for Five Rathas. We were very tired and it was too hot to do anything outside.

Next we know is that we don't want to go any other place other than our hotel. We came back and didn't think of anything else other than lunch with rice, dal and roti. We spend rest of the day inside the room. Evening we went to the city and got dinner parceled from same place behind the water tank.
19-May-2014, we checkout from the place and started at 10:00 AM. We got some cash and went to a nearby hotel for breakfast and lunch after Krishnagiri Toll gate and back to home at 5:00 PM.

Trip to Shivasamudra

As usual we wanted to go somewhere nearby in our new car and decided to go to Shivasamudra. Previous night we made sandwiches for breakfast and chowmein and chicken manchurian for lunch since there are no food available there as per review :-D
Its 10-May-2014, we got up at 4:30 AM. After freshen up, we started at 5:30 AM. By the time we reached Mysore Road, it was around 7. We filled petrol and air and headed toward Shivasamudra. On our way at 8, we parked nearby and had our sandwiches. Next we know we know we are in Shivasamudra area at 10 AM and road was good, though way in Mysore road was always crowded.

Starting of Shivasamudra
There are 2 falls in Shivasamudra. First one is Gagan Shukki and next one is Bhara Chukki. We went straight to Bhara Chukki falls.

We stopped here and took some photographs. It was a lovely place.

Once we reached Bhara Chukki falls, we paid for parking. It was around 10 km from Gagan Chukki falls. Once we came out, we were wondering how come there will be 2nd highest fall because we never crossed any hills. But as we went in, we say that we are right on top of hills. Anyway there is proper stairs to go down and you can either take a coracle ride, or take bath or take photographs like us. But yes, you have to climb up and down a lot, so better take drinking water with you. After descending for 20 min, we finally reached till the bottom of the fall. We spend a good amount of time there. It was a lovely moment sitting there at the bottom of the fall, feeling the water droplets and feet in water.
Climbing up is bit tiring, but we managed it well and took rest for sometime. We got a instant photo for both of us and returned back from there.

After we came back from Bhara Chukki, we stopped and took some photo. It looks awesome with flowers all around. Next we stopped near the bridge and had our lunch. We finished our water, so there was a guy with sugar cane juice. So we had 2 glasses from him and it was real good, so asked him to fill our bottle with it. He promptly did and was very happy. So gave us one glass for free and took 90 bucks for everything. Got a bottle of water from nearby shop and headed toward Gagan Chukki falls.

To reach Gagan Chukki falls, it will feel like you are entering government quarters. Guards will note your details and every crossing there will be a guard to show you direction. It is basically you have to go through hydro power electricity board. In this fall you can't go down till the fall and have to see from top. It is more like a commercialized place with a government hotel and few fruit stalls around.

We freshen up from here to return back home. It was 2 PM and started back from here. On way back one temp traveller scratched our car in left front corner. I won't blame him, because I should have understood that it is a public vehicle and doesn't bother about anything.
According to me, I liked Bhara Chukki and you can enjoy there and we are back at home at 5 PM. BTW, that sugar cane juice already fermented and was more of alcohol and less of juice :-D Somehow the map is not understanding from where I came and is showing other place. But yes, we went from Mysore Road and diverted from Mandya.
